Zemanta - Blog Content Suggestion to Make Blogging Fun AGAIN! - A Journey On Internet Marketing, Social Media, Blogging Tips

If you have been spending hours looking for images, related information and links to support your article, you can now say goodbye to those time consuming part of blogging. Our pros from Zemanta came up with Zemanta to provide you related content suggestions to whatever you're writing. They are ready for you to pick up and link to as you're writing. When visitors read your articles and find out a number of links to coherent posts, they will put more trust to your articles. Then they will be more likely to refer to your articles as the source of information in result, if they aren't already :) . Excited already? So, how exactly does this Zemanta work? To start using Zemanta, you need to first install the FireFox extension. As Zemanta is not fully launched yet (alpha version currently), the only browser supported is FireFox 2 and 3. Even so, they already support both WorPress blogging platform, as well as Blogger and TypePad. Expect more browsers and blogging platforms support soon!

After completing the installation (an easy one!), you can see the Zemanta icon in your address bar (if you want to see Zemanta in action without installing it, you can do it on their demo page).

To activate/deactivate it, just click on it. Since we want to see it in action, let's leave it active for now.

Now visit your blog's dashboard and start writing there. While you're at it, you can see a Zemanta sidebar has been added to your "Edit post" page. More stuff you write, more accurate blog content suggestion will be provided. However, Zemanta needs 300 characters written prior to finding related links, pictures and tags for your article. And it updates all the suggestions every 300 chars more. Still, you can do a manual refresh as you wish. For now, Zemanta works best for English articles currently.

Images are taken from Wikimedia Commons, Flickr, Shutterstock and Fotolia. They are suggested based on contextual comparison of your text and the image's title, description and articles they were used in originally. Since pictures are all either licensed as Creative Commons, or approved by stock providers, there's no need to worry about copyright infringements.

Zemanta also supplies tag suggestions based on your choice of keywords. At the moment, while the post is made, Zemanta suggests "Zemanta, WordPress, Arts, TypePad, Blog, FireFox, Weblogs, On the Web" as tag suggestions. I compared the suggestions using Pingoat's keyword analysis. Not bad, I say. Zemanta's tag suggestions are overall the same as Pingoats'.

The related articles themselves, collected from 300 blogs and media sources, while the links are mostly come from Wikipedia. Even so, many more sources are to be included in the future.
So, what can Zemanta here can do? Particular to gain extra traffic, Zemanta can index your blog posts and displays them as related articles on other blogs that also use Zemanta. This way, you can increase the odds of other bloggers backlinking to you :) .
