Like i have mention, deleting your account will be much more difficult as many have found to their dismay. Facebook does not allow you to totally delete away your account but what you can do is to deactivate the account and that means you can never leave this Social media, Somehow your data is stored in Facebook archive.

If you are wondering how you can quickly deactivate or remove your accounts here are the steps to help you quit social networking and return back to your Real-Life basics:

Facebook
You will only be allowed to deactivate your account, which removes your profile listing without deleting your data off the website, i do not know the reason why Facebook book would want to store that much information but then, the priority is to remove your profile from viewers:

1. Login to Facebook
2. Go to "Account"(highlighted in the red box) on your top right corner
3. Click the "Deactivate" option. You will be asked to confirm deactivation as well as the reason behind it which is compulsory, again i am not sure why they need a reason for just the deactivation portion.

Backdoor to Deleting your Full Account On Facebook
I manage to sneak this information out to you guys who do not want to exist on your facebook profile and this is how you are able to delete your account permanently:

1. Login to Facebook
2. Go to "Help"(red box) at the bottom right of the page.
3. Click "Privacy and Security"(orange box) and then "Security".
4. Click "I want to permanently delete my account"
5. You will be directed to the account deletion message at the bottom and this is where you can access the account deletion form.
6. Check the box"Remove my account from facebook" and then click "submit".

Now, did i say you will not be able to delete your account? I guess it can be done!

MYSpace
To delete your account, go according to the steps shown:

1. Login to MYSpace
2. At the home page, click "Settings" in the control panel.
3. Click "Cancel Account". You will then be asked to confirm your decision.
4. Click the "Cancel My Account" button to permanently remove your account.
   

Friendster
To delete your account, go according to the steps shown:

1. Login to Friendster.
2. Go to the"Settings" page at the top right of the page.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Cancel Account". You will then be directed to the account cancellation form.
4. Fill in the reason why you are leaving the network, check the box "Yes", I want to cancel my Friendster Account" and then click "Proceed".

I guess getting rid of your social media account is now easiest and fastest which could be gone in 60 seconds!

How to Use Your Gmail Effectively Without A Mouse

Google had always been friendly in every aspect though they try to conquer every program and community that could be created by mankind. One of the most commonly used application other than the Search engine would be the Gmail service provided by Google.

Gmail's User Interface is quite usable, but sometimes a mouse just seems to get in the way of efficiency. The Gmail developers have included lots of nice keyboard shortcuts that can really make using Gmail quicker and easier. Gmail offers many keyboard shortcuts. To enable keyboard shortcuts, click on the Settings link at the top right of the screen, and click on the "General" tab. Look for the "Keyboard Shortcuts" entry and click on the "Keyboard shortcuts on" radio button.

Shortcut Key	Definition	Action
c	Compose	Allows you to compose a new message. + c allows you to compose a message in a new window.
/	Search	Puts your cursor in the search box.
k	Move to newer conversation	Opens or moves your cursor to a more recent conversation. You can hit to expand a conversation.
j	Move to older conversation	Opens or moves your cursor to the next oldest conversation. You can hit to expand a conversation.
n	Next message	Moves your cursor to the next message. You can hit to expand or collapse a message. (Only applicable in 'Conversation View.')

Create expandable teaser summary for your blog

Expandable Post Summaries is when each blog post consists of a short paragraph of introduction followed by a 'Read More' link. This enables the reader to get a small introduction to each post on the main page. You get to show more posts in one page and your readers are spoiled for choices to read!

It is very simple actually, i will teach you step by step on how you can setup your expandable post summaries. "Read More!" There are basically three steps to follow if you want to implement expandable post summaries in the new layouts template.

Styling your CSS
The First step is to style it into your CSS and this changes how posts display on different pages.

• Login to your account
• Go to 'Template'
• Go to 'Edit HTML'

Scroll down just above </head> and add in this code:

Note that there is a ]]></b:skin> tag just above the </head> tag. Add the above code so that it lies between these two tags. What we did here was to define a class

The second step is to add the Read More links which will appear after the paragraph summaries.

• Under 'Edit HTML', look on your top right and under 'Expand Widget Template' put a tick to open up more of your XML.
• Scroll down the code and look for this code <data:post.body/>

Add the code below immediately after the above code :

Upon completing the code,save the template and ensure you have a backup copy of this previous template. You should see that the Read More Entry>> appearing on your blog.

It called the "In between Post ads", and its beginning to heat up the blogger's community and i expect many users to have a try at this feature.

It had been surveyed that in between post ads stand a higher chance for clicks, for this i can't verify cause i am pretty happy with the current position of my Adsense and maybe you guys can try and leave behind a review of how it is happening on your blog.

How do i switch Blogger to a Custom Domain - Blogspot to Dot Com

I am very happy to say that i have got for myself a domain name and i have decided to use my own name this time and i am looking forward to using this domain name in the future for as long as i live. I have taken up this domain name for 5 years now with Godaddy who has one of the cheapest domain registrar available.

Firstly you got to decide a domain name and of course deciding a name is pretty hard and unless you are going to use your name to be your domain otherwise it is best that you use a program that can decide the keywords you want to search for a list of domain name available for you. You can use bust a name domain master for free which allows you to type keywords and they will search for you the available domain which is close to your keywords.

Using Bust A Name to find your domain
After you have found your domain name, there is a 'buy button' and get your Godaddy Account for $6.95 only instead of the normal price of $8.95 per domain name.

Congrats on getting a domain, now to configure
After you have made the purchase of the domain using either creditcard or Paypal, We need to configure your settings so that your blogspot can accept the custom dot com name. Login to your account with your customer ID and Password which you have given yourself.
Look for "manage domain" and click on it then you see your domain name, click on it again so that it can bring you to the the Domain panel.

Under your domain panel, Click on "Total DNS Control and MX Records" so that you can configure your DNS number.

When you are in the DNS Control panel, you will see the first 2 columns which are important, cause a change in it can affect how your blogspot is going to be shown with your dot com.

You can see that your Control panel will be slightly different from me, i have an additional "blog" column which i have added it and i will tell you why later i add this, but you can just have it added in in small letters "blog" within and change the ip address to what your "@" shows, please note that there might be changes to the IP address after one day of configuring your domain name, so don't panic, for any doubt or you would like to know your own Ip address, you can always contact their Technical support team, they are most willing to help and reply you through phone or email.(*The IP address shown may not be suitable for you so contacting the staff is the best solution to know your own IP)

If you can see under the first column, i have the host pointed to "ghs.google.com" instead of the old setting of www, please do the following changes to tell them that you want to direct it to blogspot. That is it for this crucial portion, now we will move on to setting your

Domain Forwarding
Go back to your Domain Control Center and chose the tab "Forward" and over at the Domain Forwarding page you will be able to bring your blogspot name over to your dot com!

Three portion in forwarding that you need to do before your dot com can take effect.

1. You need to "enable" the forwarding
   
   
2. You need to key in your blogspot name, example like mine http://profit-line.blogspot.com
   
   
3. Redirect to "301 permanently" and save.
   

Take note that they will process this forwarding and it can take 24 hours to get it done, so in the mean time you will still have to stick to your blogspot account.

What's the difference between a 301 Redirect and a 302 Redirect?

301 Redirect
Redirects to the site you specified in the Forward To field using a "301 Moved Permanently" HTTP response. The HTTP 301 response code tells user-agents (including search engines) that the location has permanently moved.

302 Redirect
Redirects to the site you specified in the Forward To field using a "302 Moved Temporarily" HTTP response. The HTTP 302 response code tells user-agents (including search engines) that the location has temporarily moved.

If I use a 301 redirect on my site to point the www and non-www versions to the same version, do I still need to use this feature?
You don't have to use it, as we can follow the redirects. However, you still can benefit from using this feature in two ways: we can more easily consolidate links to your site and over time, we'll direct our crawl to the preferred version of your pages.

If I use this feature, should I still use a 301 redirect on my site?
You don't need to use it for Googlebot, but you should still use the 301 redirect, if it's available. This will help visitors and other search engines. Of course, make sure that you point to the same URL with the preferred domain feature and the 301 redirect.


Check back your Godaddy account
You have waited for one long day and now it is the time to go back to your Godaddy account and check whether are they still processing your domain forwarding, if they are do contact their staff, it should not take that long.

Do you still remember i said to check on your IP address under the A host, go back there and see whether there is any change, if there is a change at the "@", please do so for your "blog" as well. The "@" and "blog" should have the exact configuration for the IP.

Blogger to Dot Com in an Instead!
Go to your Blogger "settings" ---> "Publishing" ---> "Custom Domain" and add your full domain name within (http://www.example.com).

I just realise that Blogger are also offering domain to their users through Google, I did not know until i purchase Godaddy, and i still prefer them. After you have switched over to your dot com. It is time to test!

You have your Own Dot com!
Yes you will see that you have your very own http://www.example.com and remember i was telling you to insert under your godaddy account Ahost "blog", this is to allow your blogspot to be read in either "http://www.etienneteo.com" or to be "http://etienneteo.com", you can click to try, both with be redirected to as www and it will not give a 404 not found page for http://etienneteo.com.

Favicon Your Blog for Bloggers

Favicon(pronounced fav-eye-con) is a 16x16 pixel image included on nearly all professional developed sites. Within Internet Explorer the Favicon is displayed on the Address line and in the Favorites menu and can be clearly seen in Firefox bookmark.

The Favicon allows the blogger to further promote their blog, and to create a more customized appearance within a visitor's browser. but since my topic today is unlike others who spread about changing them to .ico before upload to a google group or a host and then coding it. I will have it done the quick and easy way and hopefully it will work for you guys!



The box that is highlighted in red would be the magic code required to allow this favicon to appear in your blog, like what i have said, you will need to use graphic editing software such as Adobe Photoshop if you don't have then you can try download Irfanview or go online and use Phixr photo image editor.

Currently Favicon can only be viewed using Firefox and the new IE7, while the IE6 could not see, so update your IE or stick to use Firefox.

Guide to install Favicon
Adding a favicon to your blog is a good way to distinguish your blog from the millions of other bloggers around.

1. Choose a picture you like(most of the time people will place use their own face to personalize the blog)
2. Use a photo Editor(like photoshop or the 2 photo editors that i recommended) to resize the picture to 16x16 pixel.gif for best 1:1 resolution and adjustment
   
3. Host the 16x16 pixel.gif on any photo host like photobucket,imageshack or your own hosting
   
4. Add your Photo host url of the icon to the following code below
   

<link href='URL of your icon file' rel='shortcut icon'/>

Remember to type in the “URL of your icon file”.

Save the template. When you refresh your blog site, you should see your nice little Favicon next to the blog address.

When you decide to change your blog favicon in future, you can just change the hosting link of the image with a new favicon and thats it!

Blogger's Buy me a Beer - Paypal donation

This module is heavily inspired by Ankesh Kothari's Buy Me a Beer Wordpress plugin, and since i was thinking of setting up one for my Etienne Teo Blog, i thought i might as well just look for one and add it as a widget on my blog, suprisingly no blogger or Blog hacker had setup a plugin for blogger.com users to input this beautiful "Buy me a beer" plugin.

Acutally this plugin is pretty simple, needs a little tweak on the codes and you are ready to have one plugin available for blogger.com, maybe it was too simple so no one actually bothered, but i need one for myself so i guess the rest is history! Maybe now the blogger.com community can use the updated plugins on their blogger.com and hopefully it can be found much easier on google and other search engine, which i was trying for the past 5 days and i was frustrated why i could only find WP plugins for "Buy me a beer", are WP users the only one using them or was my search keywords all wrong.

2. You will need a Paypal Account and if you don't have one, its time to get an account, its free and require to Register with your full details. After which use the email that you have registered with paypal and input to this red code i placed under number 2, this email is very important since it directs your viewers to the correct place to buy you a beer!
   
   
3. Change the contents and update to your preferred text, this portion can have unlimited text as long as you project the key message to your viewers so that they will buy you a beer!
