"If you’re like most writers, you procrastinate. You have a hard time getting started writing, unless you’re seized by a burst of inspiration. A Good Old List Of Pinging Services
Wednesday, July 9, 2008
In a couple of my post back on18 remarkable tactics used to drive traffic and 101 tips I learned from blogging in 2007. I talk about the same thing that is pretty important yet seldom bloggers practice which is to use the pinging services provided for free.So What is Pinging? "Ping is a XML-RPC-based push mechanism by which a weblog notifies a server that its content has been updated. An XML-RPC signal is sent to one or more "ping servers," which can then generate a list of blogs that have new material. Many blog authoring tools automatically ping one or more servers each time the blogger creates a new post or updates an old one." source (Wikipedia)
To put it into simple English, it means a service to update different search engines that your blog has been updated and allows your post to be generated into the search engines directory. The bigger your ping list the higher the chances of receiving traffic from those sources.

Is Direct Mailing Marketing Still Effective?
Sunday, July 6, 2008
Simon Cheng who is a reader on my blog dropped me a question on my email and asked me whether direct mailing still works in the internet marketing community, this is what i feel personally since selling by mail can be easy and relatively inexpensive as compared to advertising them on websites or blogs paying monthly fees that could be out of your budget.
However you sucess depends on the methods you use in presenting your offering to your prospects. In direct mail marketing, you are sending your "salesmen" out to sell for you. If you have 1000 offers of your products and you give each salesman one product to sell for you, what are the chances of the products being sold in terms of reach in an automated method. Let us look at the advantage and disadvantage of using direct mail as your marketing plan.

Advantage to using direct mail as part of your marketing plan
- Targeting a very specific group and taking your message directly to them, you have the ability to have complete control over the people who receives your advertising message and who doesn't. If you are targeting on opportunity seekers, a quality mailing list can let you focus on that specific group.
- A well planned direct mail campaign can result in the most consistent and predictable method of customer generation and it provides great flexibility in message presentation.
- Develop a distinctive personality for your business. It can enhance your image, giving your customers information and persuade them to place an order on your product.
Disadvantage of direct mail
- They are often considered to be junk mail, this might have occured to you often when you receive many unknown emails that sells you products that are not what you are interested. Seldom does a one shot mailing have desired result. You must have a long term, well thought out marketing plan.
- Your piece is competing with dozens of other pieces for attention, if you do not know what you are doing, it is easy to waste a lot of money.

Working In A Office Environment At Home
Monday, June 16, 2008
Working at home is one of the best thing that could happen in everyone of our life but you need to give a clear boundary between your rest place and your "work area". While i work approximately three meters away from my bed, i usually give myself an imaginary line that cuts across to give me the feeling i am working while i am on my laptop blogging and completing assignments that i have been asked to fulfill.

What could you do to sector two different place in one small cosy room? Simple to say, it is how you manage your mindset. When i first started blogging a year back, problems like resting during my "work hours" bound to happen and my routine of work became affected since i do not take the responsibility to give myself ample space for my work to be completed. What i did next was to review my room floor plan and planned for a partition across my computer table and my bed which lies across. This creates a buffer zone so that i am able to keep myself thinking i am at work and the ability to use the time more productivity working on projects and reviews that are assigned to me over the weeks.
Working at home means you need to put 110% concentration on your business and you should be aware of the challenges ahead which may decrease efficiency and productivity levels, putting the quality of work at risk.
Some people find it difficult to concentrate on their task because of the inevitable distractions at home. Writer's block sets in easily on people who couldn't focus on their writeup while they stare blank on their computer screen, what could i do next? You need to gain full control over it so that you can have a flexible and convenient way to earn a living online.
Here i have a few tips that you can take back to ensure that working from home is a positive, productive experience.
Schedule your working hours
How well you plan your working hours tells how effective and efficient a person is. It is important to limit the number of working hours otherwise it is no difference working for a company where you spend 8 hours "working" for nothing. Try to limit your work time to 3 hours per day which includes your research and blog posting.
Once you hit over the limit, save the draft copy and continue the next day, do not overload yourself if you are unable to finish your work. Do an experiment if you do not believe me, try working for 8 hours on the computers and you will see yourself spending almost 4 hours doing unrelated work like web surfing and checking out other blogs and not realising you have wasted so much time on un-necessary stuff.
I will fix 2 hours of my time on Saturday to read on blogs that i subscribe and stumbleupon, it gives me more space to spend time with my family and friends over the weekend. Creating capacity is not that hard after all.
Distractions to be eliminated
Timothy Ferris is author of 4 hour workweek and bestseller in New York Times. In his book, he talks about how and why we should remove unnecessary distractions. All these distractions caused us to stop our work and confuse our work and delay our targeted schedule deadline.
The biggest culprit among all distractions are the email, both you and i have. I must confess that i check my mail 8 times a day and it was consuming alot of my time over the days. I must have been spending 2 hours reading all of my 100 mails i receive daily.
Since reading the book, i have learned to reduce my reading of email to one day and now 2 days. I wish i could stop reading my emails, unfortunately i have profitable business which requires me to reply back to the consumers. Responding in 2 days means i have more business to reply back on 1 single day and responding their feedback in the next 2 days. Did i lose any business? No, I do not, the reason why i do not lose any business is because i replied though after 2 days. Now, i have dedicated this job over to my new part time secretary who will filter on important message that i need to read, that cuts my time and also i cna be more efficient on my work.
Create your ideal work environment
My home "office" is painted with bright colors, the room is simple and there is no fanciful equipments other than my computer and my bookshelves storing all my internet marketing books collection. Creating a ideal work environment is essential, it should not have radios, television and bed which could get you carried away while you are at work.
Move out to absorb new ideas
Remember i talk about writer's block and how we should give ourself space to gain control of ourself. Try to move out of your home and head down to starbucks for a cup of coffee, appreciate the surrounding and the big nature around you. Start to put thoughts into action as you go along. If you are unable to think of any interesting ideas, then close your laptop and head home for a nap, do not waster your time on unproductive things. Start afresh the next day again and find your inspirational then.

10 Open Source Word Processors to Aid Your Online Writing
Friday, May 30, 2008
Web-savvy writers are embracing the open source movement, as it provides both useful and free alternatives to commercial writing tools. As a blogger who churns out daily online content, I have come to appreciate any open source tools that can help me with my work. Why pay for a stale, commercial word processor when you can have a free, evolving word processor like the 10 listed below?
1. AbiWord – A popular alternative to Microsoft Word, the source code for AbiWord was written very carefully in order to make it a flexible, cross-platform word processor. AbiWord is also available in many different languages, which widens its appeal.
2. Bean – This simple, user-friendly word processor was designed for Mac OS X users. It is a lightweight alternative for those who are sick of programs that try to appeal to Windows, Mac and Linux users.
3. KWord – KWord is a frame-based Word processor and desktop publisher that is perfect for both home and office users. You can create professional layouts with this simple and free program.
4. NeoOffice – This Mac OS X software is similar to OpenOffice, though it is tailored specifically to the needs of Mac users. An increasingly popular open source alternative, NeoOffice has a very supportive community.
5. NotePad++ - This free, lightweight software is an open source alternative to Microsoft NotePad. It supports many different program languages and can be used as a simple WYSIWYG editor.
6. OpenOffice Writer – This word processor is part of the most famous open source productivity suite, OpenOffice.org. This is a very robust program for both word processing and desktop publishing.
7. RoughDraft – This will probably appeal to bloggers, as the program was designed with writers in mind. Compatible only with Windows, RoughDraft boasts features that make it easier to format creative writing projects, such as novels and screenplays.
8. Scribus – A word processor and desktop publisher, Scribus is suitable for Windows, Mac and Linux users. With this software, you can create projects that are suitable for professional publishing.
9. WordIt – Smaller than Microsoft Word, yet more reliable, it is much easier to fire up this lightweight program for spell checking and PDF exports.
10. yWriter4 – Created by a novelist, this word processor makes it easy to organize large amounts of text. With yWriter4, you can easily lay out your large projects, novels and more. Everything is saved in RTF format, just in case you want to conduct some more editing with a different word processor.

4 Compassionate Teachings Learned From Vesak Day
Monday, May 19, 2008
The significance of Vesak lies with the Buddha and his universal peace message to mankind. In most Buddhist temples all over the world, believers will gather to remember Prince Siddhatha. About 2,550 years ago, Prince Siddhatha was born in Lumbini, India during a full moon in the month of Vesak. This wisdom and light that flashed and radiated under the historic Bodhi Tree at Buddha Gaya in the district of Bihar in Northern India, more than 2500 years ago, is of great significance to human destiny. I would like to share this day with the teachings i have remembered till this very day that Buddha had taught all of us.
Giving up the four sights
On the first three trips, he saw sickness, old age and death. He asked himself, "How can I enjoy a life of pleasure when there is so much suffering in the world?" On his fourth trip, he saw a wandering monk who had given up everything he owned to seek an end to suffering. "I shall be like him." Bloggers are tempt by the term "make money online" but forgot the real reason of blogging, are you doing something out of just money or for passion writing what you love instead to attain an income.
Renunciation The Way He See Life
Siddahta called himself Gautama and instead of being dressed in luxury, he wore rag robes and ate roots, leaves and fruits and this lasted for six years till he understands that overdoing things can not lead to happiness. " He began to eat nourishing food again and regained his strength. Blogging could have started well for you and might not have but if you work on the goal and niche that you are interested in, you will understand how you can explore many other ways to achieving that status in a long run.
Enlightenment
When Gautama sat under the tree, his mind was set to sit under the tree and go into a deep mediation, forgetting everything else in his mind and gained the most supreme wisdom and understood things as they truly are. You might be new in your network of authority blogs but why bother so much about competition with blogs that have been established, they also climb up the ladder slowly with trust from the readers, clear your mind and focus on what you write best to your readers and slowly your status will reach it's peak.
The Buddha Teaches
Buddha won the hearts of the people because he dealt with their true feelings. He advised them not to accept his words on blind faith, but to decide for themselves whether his teachings are right or wrong, then follow them. He encouraged everyone to have compassion for each other and develop their own virtue, "You should do your own work, for I can teach only the way." While i have a core group of readers who have been supporting me, i am also a avid supporters of a group of niche bloggers and i would highly recommend them to read to my readers. If you do not broaden your knowledge and share with others, you will always only be in that square.

Four Tips I Took Back Learning Bowling
Saturday, May 10, 2008
Just months back, i was actively trying out a sport that i would never dream i had so much passion for and of course this sports is treated more as a recreational game than a professional sport and it's not even an official Olympic sport featured.

If you think bowling was simply throwing straight ball and moving the ball at 150mph just to get your strikes then you might have overlook the depth of what you need to learn to further improve your strike rates. This is where i want to let you know why bowling and blogging has the same skills that you need to learn and in print the same methods used over and over again and make changes when you feel you are unable to to get all your ten pins down.
Mentally Prepared
In a bowling tournament, games are play at a wide range from 2 to 10 games to square off your opponent. You need to be prepared for what's coming next and even when you have lost the first game, it does not mean you will lose the next. If you are unable to create first hand information, why not reprint or quote others who have spoked upfront, sometimes when you link back to authority bloggers, you tend to have better credibility when readers know your source are reliable and comes from a worthy source.

Getting the right Hook
Instead of taking chances by bowling your ball straight into the ten pins which might give you a 70% strike rate on a 10 frame basis, why not learn the technique of hooking your book into pin 1-2 or 1-3 and you might get a bigger strike rate as compared to moving straight. Sometimes blogging on your blog alone might not help you increase your readership but instead aim for other alter sources like social media sites and guest blogging which gives you a better exposure to other readers who might not have the chance to read your contents.
Keeping your Eyes on the Target
Keeping your eye on your target from start to finish will eliminate many inconsistencies in the approach. You would be surprised how difficult it is to do three times in a row, let alone a league night or tournament. Remember, start to finish without losing sight of it. Remember that blogging requires you keep your focus on what your niche and flagship is about, do not deviate away from the topics that you cover. If you are not focus, you might lose your battle with your competitors and even your support you rallied with so much effort might just be lost overnight.

Consistency is what you should Aim
Bowling requires you to be consistent in your action, keeping a good average of 200 in your games, gives you a good rough idea of how well you have progress through your months of training, of course there are bad times even professional bowlers finishes their game at 150 points! Your frequencies level of posting could be a factor, i am guilty on this portion since i have been trying to master the consistency of bowling more than blogging but it is always good that you fix your eyes on one thing at a time but never to neglect what you have done before.

Why Drive A Bullet Into Your Blog Post Through Social Media?
Tuesday, April 29, 2008
We all know the importance of how social media can help broaden and speed up the flow of traffic to our blogs without the use of exchange for credits or buying useless traffic from companies that guarantee your enormous traffic yet these readers do not stay for more than 20 seconds.Social media sites are a good way to communicate what you have on your blog to your readers. Social media are also a good form of way to generate further interest giving good rating and "audience appeal" to the content that is being deliver. Popular articles that hit the front page usually have something special or unique that carries along with the content the writer is trying to deliver.
Some of the ways you can excel or keep visitors keen in reading your next post on your blog is through your title and visual impact that you have to keep your visitors interested as they go on reading your lengthy yet useful post which certainly deserved a "thumbsup" vote from the "audiences" or you can call they now your readers who will be looking forward to your next exciting post.
Some of the social media sites that have been popular and used frequently which generates massive flow of traffic that could crash your weak server.

Postonfire
A rather new social site that is posting contents that are on fire, Postonfire accepts Article content publishing and encourages users to vote and give comments on the post you have read.

Ask a Good Question
Sunday, April 20, 2008

"The Art of enquiry leads us to important answers, and can even change our lives."
A recent study estimated that the world generated 161 billion gigabytes of digital information last year. That is like 12 separate stacks of books that reach from the earth to the sun or three million times the information in all the books ever written.
The report sought to account for all the photos, emails, videos, web pages, instant messages and other digital content cascading through our world today. How much memory would be required to contain the above information?
You would need two billion 80GB ipods to hold all information! This leads to a growing realisation that memory is not automatically the best use of minds in modern eduction and computers are much better at data management.
How do we focus on the right data, create space when there is too much data and learn to think more effectively? The real work for each of us is to relearn the art of enquiry. As children, we learned by asking questions. There is a Chinese proverb that goes: "He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever." So what does an effective question do?
Questions can change our thinking
A consultant was asked to help a group of web programmers who were way behind on a 50 million dollar project. He came and interviewed them all. After much consideration he simply asked one key question.
The question took hold and changed the way the programmers were thinking. The end result was that the project finished on time and was $15 million dollars under budget. The right questions changed the thinking of all those involved in the project.
Questions create space
A young married woman went to the doctor to seek advice. She asked to be sterilised, as her upbringing had been so painful that she didn't want to have her children experience the same thing. The doctor asked her:" What would happen if you could make your children's life better and could protect them?"
She thought about it and was stumped. She changed her mind about the operation and now has two beautiful girls that are the joy of her life. The right question created space in her thinking to look at life in a new way.
The wisest use of your mind is not just holding data, but learning how to work with the data, which requires the art of enquiry. Simply put, we must relearn how to ask questions. As with all arts, it is not an easy task to learn, and requires discipline and practice with a dose of humility. Yet, it is a worthwhile discipline that seems guaranteed to produce new levels of success for all who dare to ask.

In the mean time, do add me in your twitter community.Quotably is a twitter client which allows you to post your reply directly from the site, just login your twitter account and start posting replies to those who you follow.

Twhirl is a desktop twitter client that looks more like a MSN or chatbox, it will give you alerts when there are updates in your followers. You can post pictures and replies through the client, it uses adobe air platform, so you need to install the adobe air before having your program running.

Feed your latest blog post over to your twitter's account and this is done automatically once you have added your blog feed into your twitter feed. Use your openid to login you in, otherwise you can sign up for one quick and easy.

"Twitterrific is a fun application that lets you both read and publish posts or "tweets" to the Twitter community website. The application's user interface is clean, concise and designed to take up a minimum of real estate on your Mac's desktop." Do we forget the Mac users? I doubt not! Have You Written Anything Lately?
Wednesday, April 9, 2008
I can say that I have been blogging for over a year now and yet I am not like all other young, expert bloggers out there. Before, whenever I saw an opportunity to make money online, I grab it. I have lots of clients. My tasks piled up until I cannot do all of them anymore. I have very good clients that I have turned down. It was very disappointing for my part.
That is when I started to blog. I used my blog to make an online portfolio for my future clients. But, a few months later, my blogs disappeared. I was too excited when I had my first blog. I placed every ad I could find in my blog. That’s when Google disabled it. I was shocked. I sacrificed everything for my blog, my time and even my career.
I know how it feels because I have worked with Smorty, Blogsvertise and Review Me. I used a free blog with a good page rank. Yes, I have earned $150+ for almost 3 months of writing reviews. I know other bloggers are making more than that. But when Google updated, my blog’s page rank was gone. It was back to zero and so are my opportunities.
So now, I am working this out one step at a time. I bought my own domain. I found discount coupon codes from GoDaddy that helped me get a cheap domain. Having your own domain is better than just setting up a free blog.
When you have your own domain, you can do anything with it especially in paid blogging. This is not allowed in free blogs. You can also put any ads you want in your blog. You will earn once readers from your blog clicked ads and the more blogs you have, the more money you earn.
I have not written anything lately so I am just into joining blog contests. Joining blog contests do not only give me a chance to win some money but also to make new friends. I can get tips and advices how to improve my blogging. Blogging was never fun before until I came across these contests. Even I am too late for some, I still find time to make a post and link to them.
If you wanted to make more money, I suggest that you should first invest to have your own domain. Start for a cheap one. Think a niche for your blog that can help others. A good niche attracts more readers. More readers mean more traffic that can lead your blog to have a high page rank.
Keywords are also important for your posts. I have a limit of 5 keywords. I also use some of my keywords either as titles of my posts or anchor texts. And I make sure every post has a related image so that the post will not be boring.
