I have received many congrats email, most of them are amazed by the volume and scale, the prizes that have been gathered and how i did it in a matter of less than 2 days to reach over 30 supportive sponsors who agreed to give something without anything in return. Where is the benefits and rational behind sponsoring a blog in their contest?
Why would anyone want to sponsors his/her products for free in your contest and do not want anything in return? There are many reasons why a sponsor decline any returns from you because he believes in giving and gaining more returns from other potential clients who visits your blog to try and win prizes he wish to have. A sponsor receives more than just publicity on the blog/website but also 'selling' his products he own.
The soft yet effectively tactic used between you and your potential sponsors comes in a win-win situation where both parties gain from each other and both parties will feel happy about the contribution they have each made in this collaboration.
Why Sponsors are the smartest marketers around
In order to hold a large scale blog bash contest, you will need to brainstorm a group of internet marketers who you have identified that will be willing to sponsor your blog bash contest. There are thousands of marketers around who are willing to give you details on what they are willing to chip in to gain free publicity on your blog. How do you do that?

High Chances, products that you see commonly running PPC(Adwords) would be great potential customers who are looking to increase their customer database. Compile a list using excel and identify their group into different categories depending on your niche. - Have they been sponsoring other blogs?
Check for previous blog contest held by probloggers and go through their list of sponsors, pick out those sponsors who you think fits the blog contest you are holding and compile them into another list. - Are they a new company who are looking for exposure?
The most potential way of receiving a sponsor is looking for new products or marketers who are easily spotted on forums. The virtual world is a competitive market, you need additional exposure using advertising marketplace(adwords,adbrite etc..) to help boost your reputation online so sponsoring products you have in exchange for customer database is a much desired way of boosting your product name.
After compiling the list in your excel sheet, it is time you drop a mail into their inbox, giving them information about your blog contest and how much you would like to have them on board your blog bash contest. Remember to always end your mail with a deadline, let your sponsor know you need a firm answer in 2 days time and let them know you are eager to start the contest anytime soon. You are never wrong to demand a firm answer from the respective marketer because you want a list of sponsors as soon as possible, this is the reason why i could get 30 sponsors in less than 2 days and don't feel that i have stressed myself out!
